LG Electronics has announced a touchscreen Prada phone that looks and functions eerily like Apple’s iPhone. The phone, much like its Chocolate phone cousin, is marketed towards luxury users and includes a leather case, pre-loaded content and ring tones. LG’s phone could even beat Apple’s iPhone to market.
The tri-band 12mm thin phone normally has glowing touch-sensitive icons, but the icons disappear when the phone is not in use. A 2 megapixel camera on the back has an LED flash along with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens. Like other Korean phones, the Prada phone can play back MP3/ACC/WMA music along with MPEG4/H.264 video clips. Extra content can be loaded through a MicroSD slot.
Unfortunately there is no mention of the phone coming to the United States. The phone will be sold starting in February to the UK, France, Germany and Italy for about $775 (US). Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore will get the phone in late March. LG’s home country Korea will have the phone in the second quarter.
LG’s choice of marketing a phone with a Prada name makes sense for fashion conscious consumers in Asia. Prada is known for making fashionable and high-end accessories like handbags and sunglasses.
Just when you think your cell phone does just about everything… LG announces the LG LP4100 which includes a breathalyzer.
Here’s how it works: Users blow into a small spot on the phone, and if they’ve had too much to drink the phone issues a warning and shows a weaving car hitting traffic cones.
The LP4100 also allows users to set up the phone so on certain nights and after a certain time they do not call certain people in their phone book. Think ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend.
If you have a blood alcohol level over .08, the phone will not let you dial that person. So it not only promotes sobriety, but chastity — and probably your dignity, as well.
LG has announced at CES the release of a new mobile phone with an impressive, stylish design and a strange opening system. The mobile phone is named LG9400 and currently we can only see it’s design, without any characteristics.
The LG VX8500 is a good looking mobile phone, with great multimedia features, like the music player, Bluetooth or 1.3 megapixel camera.
It’s 240×320 pixels 2″ display, with 262k colors is of great quality and one of the best from a LG mobile phone.
The keypad has a unique alignment and usability. Keys are touch sensitive and the 4 direction keys are like the ones at iPod, being used as menu, navigator and music player controller.
The 1.3 megapixels camera is very good for it’s low resolution, but it’s biggest issue it’s the lack of flash. So it’s almost impossible to take photos while night. The camera has a lot of useful features, a 2X zoom, shoots good videos with sound.
The phone also has a Bluetooth for data transfer with other mobile phone or PC. It’s internal memory can hold 500 contacts with a lot of details each.
LG VX8500 Chocolate’s talk time is expected to be 3.5 hours and standby 10 days.
